Pricing  ·  5 min read

I ran the numbers on my own pricing page, and didn't love the answer.

A client asked me last month why a custom build costs more than a year of Brighter Vision. Fair question. I gave her the usual answer: ownership, no monthly fee, code that's actually hers when we're done. All true. Then, mostly out of curiosity, I went and checked that answer against my own numbers.

It didn't hold up.

The math I hadn't done

The Solo package has been $2,000 for a while now. Everything outside the packages bills at $150 an hour. Divide one by the other and you get thirteen hours. Thirteen hours for a homepage, an about page, a services page, an FAQ, privacy and terms, a contact form wired correctly, plus the schema markup and SEO structure sitting underneath all of it. That's not what it takes. It's closer to what it takes to write the homepage copy alone.

I set that number early on, back when I had fewer finished sites to point to and wanted the yes to be easy. It did its job. But I never went back and moved it once the actual scope of a build grew past what it originally covered. A flat price that quietly pays you less than your own hourly rate is just a mistake wearing a generous face.

What changed

Solo is $2,800 now. Group practice, which used to be only $500 more than Solo for four additional clinician profiles and their own schema markup, is $4,200. The blog add-on moved from $750 to $850. New Solo and Group builds also include Google Business Profile setup, which used to be a separate line.

If you got a quote from me before today, it still stands. I'm not going back and re-billing anyone. And this isn't going to become a habit either, quietly creeping every few months until nobody can predict what a project costs. I'd rather tell you the number moved and say why than have you find out by accident and wonder what else went unmentioned.

Still cheap, just honestly cheap

Here's the part worth saying out loud: even at the new numbers, this is still inexpensive for what it is. Other people doing hand-coded, non-template therapist sites are charging $3,000 to $5,000 for a solo build and $5,000 to $15,000 for a group practice. I'm not trying to match that. I'm trying to stop discounting my own time to the point where growing this past a one-person studio stops being realistic.

A published price isn't a favor to the client. It's a floor. It has to be a number I can actually stand behind a year from now.

Want the current numbers and everything each package includes? They're on the pricing section, same as always, no call required to see them.
